The 'Mindscapes' exhibition is an

evocative

exploration into the fluidity of space,

memory, and time, inviting viewers to

delve into the profound transformative

power of both body and mind.

Through an intricate interplay of diverse

art

forms and materials,Vanderhaeghen

navigates the liminal space between the

familiar

and the abstract.

The artist orchestrates a dialogue

between color and the subconscious.

This sensory journey bridges

the connection between humanity and

the natural world,weaving a

contemplative narrative that

unites the individual with

the vastness of the universe.

'Mindscapes' is not merely an exhibition

but a meditative experience that

challenges the viewer to transcend

conventional perception and engage with

the deeper currents of existence.

The artist creates a strong sensory

experience by putting a 35mm film in

a bath of natural acids;

red wine, tomato, lemon, appel

cider vinegar,..
.
Different color effects appear and

work deeper into our subconscious to

uplift our mind.

The light falling on the works changes

their colours, from fresh dawn

to warm evening sun.

You can hang these works in different

directions, best next to a window.

Nothing is as it seems. These film stills,

drawn from the eponymous work

‘Papilionae’,

take their name from a group of

exquisite butterflies renowned for

their captivating beauty.

Much like these creatures, the stills

use mesmerizing colors

to evoke a sense of

seduction and allure.

The imagery plays with the viewer's

perceptions,inviting us into a world

where beauty is both a facade and a

doorway to deeper, hidden truths.

“I am particularly captivated by the

metamorphic journey these butterflies

undergo—from cocoon to caterpillar to

their final, resplendent form.

They are emblematic of perpetual

transformation, embodying the idea that

change is the only constant.

This process serves as a profound

metaphor for the human experience,

suggesting that we, too, possess the

innate ability to continually reinvent

ourselves, embracing new identities and

possibilities throughout our lives." R.V.
