From dance to sculpture

Many of Vanderhaeghen’s sculptural artworks originate from

contemporary dance performances created

in collaboration with dancers. Movement, emotion,

and energy form the starting point of her visual

language.This particular performance was created for the exhibition

Traces of Energy a body of interconnected works exploring the invisible

connections between people, energy, nature, and emotion.

The dance performance becomes a sensory and emotional experience that

reflects on life’s energy and the idea that everything is deeply connected.

These impressions aretranslated into sculptural forms that

carry the same sense of movement, atmosphere, and captured life’s energy.
